You must create and uphold a set of culture statements that tell your team, “how we do things around here”. Involving team members in the creation of these will really help with buy in!
The culture statements act as a set of expectations; so when culture statements aren’t followed, it’s easier to initiate a coaching conversation with your team member, and ask “how can we get you to live this culture statement?”
Fabulous! Make sure your vision is what you are working towards. Then make sure your short-term goals are leading you towards achieving that vision.
If your staff are not helping you work towards your vision, make sure the vision is clear, compelling, and that staff have clear roles and goals that add up to you achieving that vision. When your team consistently hits their goals, you should eventually achieve your vision!
Vision can also be thought of as a long-term goal that provides a sense of direction for the business.
Your vision, whether you decide to keep it internal or share it with your audience, needs to be INSPIRING, COMPELLING and REITERATED OFTEN!!!! A vision statement that inspires, compels, and is reiterated often and enthusiastically, will dramatically improve your team’s performance and commitment.

Make sure your manuals include: organizational charts, job descriptions (with key performance indicators), step by step procedures for each job, policies and safety regulations. It should also include your mission statement, vision statement, and culture statements.
This is an ongoing process, but why not start today?
Operations manuals are extremely important as they uncover areas of weakness, giving you the opportunity to rewrite procedures and improve efficiency. This process will also help you identify silos, have departments or positions work together in better ways, and minimize risk, as they can be used for cross training if you need to replace staff, or let people take vacation.
