Your One Big Fix: A Lot of Little Successes

People are always looking for that ONE big, quick fix for themselves and their business. Unfortunately, it doesn’t exist. It’s all the small things, done right, and consistently that add up to success. It’s eating healthy over and over and over and over again, and exercising over and over and over again, and tracking your numbers over and over and over. And so on.

There are many different ways to express this, but basically business is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. There is no magic solution that will fix everything—you simply have to put in the time and effort to do things right the first time, every time.

All of the little things must also be systemized in order to ensure that they continue on, while you move on to learning and implementing other things. If something doesn’t go into a job description, a procedure, and a calendar, it’s not going to continue to happen. If you do systemize everything as you go, and continue to work on one small win after another, eventually your “one big fix” will be occurring.

As Andrew Griffiths says, via Inc.com, “From my experience the reality is that there is rarely one silver bullet solution to a businesses issues. It normally requires a range of initiatives and ideas and a very concerted effort to get the business back on track.”

Not only that, but you should remember to celebrate each of those small gains! Ilan Mochari of Inc.com provides seven reasons why celebrating your small victories is a great idea:

  1. Celebrations provide positive reinforcement.
  2. Celebrations allow leaders to emphasize work-life balance.
  3. Celebrations lighten the arduous entrepreneurial journey.
  4. Celebrations reveal your company as a fun place to work at—or volunteer for.
  5. Celebrations connect your company’s story to the outside world.
  6. Celebrations reward office spontaneity.
  7. Celebrations defuse needless confrontations.

So forget about finding that one big fix! Instead, focus on getting all the small challenges handled correctly. If you can dedicate yourself to managing these smaller challenges, you’ll begin to see steady improvement and that gives you an opportunity to celebrate each step forward. Each small gain builds on the last one, which eventually becomes the big fix you were looking for!
